Registration

Where and when can I register?

You can register online under the Register tab until October 13, 2014 at midnight if caps are not reached. If you were unable to register before online registration closed, you can register in person for the marathon, half or 5k at the Expo on Friday and Saturday, Hall D, Direct Energy Centre (DEC), 100 Princes’ Blvd (if caps not reached).


Packet Pickup

When and where can I pick up my run packet?

Run packet pickup is available at the RUNNER’S EXPO, Direct Energy Centre, Hall D, at Exhibition Place. We strongly recommend you pick up your packet early.

  • Friday October 17, 11:00am to 8:00pm
  • Saturday October 18, 10:00am to 6:00pm

Can I pick up my friend’s run packet? Can someone pick up my packet?

Yes but you need to follow the following steps in order to do so:

  1. They need to know what your Bib # is (will be emailed to you and posted on the online confirmation list on October 15, 2014 and will be available for look up at the expo)
  2. Email or written permission from you (can be shown to volunteers from your smart phone)
  3. A printout of your registration email confirmation (or have it on their smart phone to show the volunteers)
    OR a copy of your photo ID

If picking up for friends/family, you can do so for a maximum of three including your own packet.

THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO RACE KIT PICK-UP ON RACE DAY.


Course

What items are NOT allowed on the course?

For the safety of all participants, baby carriers, skateboards, roller blades, animals and unauthorized bicycles & wheeled devices are not permitted in the race.

Can my child participate with me?

  • Everyone participating in this event MUST be registered — including children.
  • We highly recommend that children under the age of 12 (participating in the 5k event) are accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. This is for the safely of the child, due to the fact that the 5k event has approximately 7500 participants.
Baby Strollers

We will allow participants to push a child in a SINGLE stroller in the 5k event only; there will be a $10 fee for this entry. The $10 fee will cover the child’s registration, as all individuals on course must be registered. Please note, for safety reasons and to ensure everyone on course is registered, only a single child stroller will be permitted. You will also be provided with an additional bib that must be worn on the back of the individual who is pushing the stroller. This additional bib is for everyone’s safety and will read “BABY STROLLER” to indicate to those around you that you are pushing a stroller. This is a recreational category and you will be assigned to the purple corral and asked to start at the back. Please note — you will only receive 1 finisher’s medal for this category.

Children

Can my dog run with me?

For the safety and comfort of all participants, animals are NOT allowed on the course.

For 5K:

  • START at Exhibition Place — parking lot 2
  • Exit out of parking lot via New Brunswick Way
  • West on Lake Shore Blvd
  • U-turn and head back east on Lake Shore Blvd to Bay St
  • North on Bay St to the Finish Line just north of Queen St

Where does my event start?

The half and full marathon start on University Ave., between Dundas St and Queen St.
The 5k starts at Exhibition Place in parking Lot 2.

What are the course closure times?

  • Marathon — you will have 6 hours to complete the marathon, must maintain 8:30 min/km pace (13:43 min/mile)
  • Half Marathon — you will have 3 hours 50 minutes to complete the half marathon, must maintain 11:00 min/km pace (16:01 min/mile)
  • 5k — you will have 80 minutes to complete the 5k race, must maintain 15 min/km pace (25:44 min/mile)
  • Finish Line and Post-race party site area will close at 3:30pm
  • After the courses close, support will be limited and participants assume the role of pedestrians.

Will there be Gatorade?

Yes, Gatorade will be available at the race party area, at the finish line and at all Aid stations. Lemon/lime Gatorade will be available on course and if additional supplies are needed then Orange flavour will also be offered.

Gatorade Recover will be offered at the Finish Line.

Where are the toilets located along the route?

There will be 2 Port-o-lets at each aid station and at each Neighbourhood Challenge entertainment station.

What kind of weather should I expect?

The daily average temperature for the month of October in Toronto is a comfortable 10.6°C or 51°F. The average high in October is 13.8°C or 57°F and the average low is 7.3°C or 45°F. Average rainfall for the month is 64.7mm or 2.5″. Moderately high humidity is a possibility at this time of year. Be prepared for a variety of conditions.

What are the starting times?

  • Marathon — 8:45am
  • Half-Marathon — 8:45am
  • 5k Run / Walk — 8:00am

Who receives medals?

All marathon, half marathon and 5k finishers will receive a medal.
