Sharing by Paul Yeung

Dear friends,

I would like to first express my heartfelt gratitude to you because you must have already supported our coming WALK WITH GOD walkathon by sponsoring other event participants! Your support is deeply appreciated! The importance of your generous support cannot be understated as it is you who have empowered us to push forward the shared mission entrusted to each one of us by our Lord!

Here, I would like to reach out to you again to tell you the FLL story from my recent reflections.

How God has prepared the pathway for FLL through the Holy Spirit!

For the past two years, the presence of the Holy Spirit in our ministry works has been strongly felt and very much “strengthened”. This is not to say that the Holy Spirit was not with us throughout our 13+ years in existence. Yet, how our team is submitted to the Holy Spirit has never been as strong in the past as these past two years. It is like FLL, now being a 13-year-old teenager, has just gone through our Confirmation; recommitting ourselves to be Christ followers by surrendering ourselves to the will of the Spirit! This realization has shaken me to my core!

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. (1 Corinthians 13:11)

FLL has grown up!

The serious discernment process in the past 2+ years has hastened our maturing in Christ through the Holy Spirit! The whole FLL team has realized that if we are to bring others to Christ, we cannot merely be MARTHA; but MARY+MARTHA. This is our new identity. The fruit of our years of ministry work is not simply bringing people to Christ through our productions, but allowing us to exercise our duty as Christ followers, to discover and use the TALENTS God has given us, and to live out our faith in actions, not merely by words. We have realized that the work we do should not be merely based on its effectiveness. More importantly, we need to discern and do His will, and only His will. Whether or not that will yield good fruits in the short run, that should not be our cares. As long as it is conformed to God’s will, God will multiply it and make it fruitful beyond our imagination eventually.

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)

The above Bible quotes remind us that we should not do things based on human standard because we do not have a clear picture. Having said that, we should not refrain from taking action in times of uncertainty, especially when prompted by the Spirit, as it is where Trust in the Lord begins.

FIAT

Recently, we have started our quarterly prayer meeting that is open to the public, and the Holy Spirit prompted me to name it FIAT.

“I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be to me according to your Word” (Luke 1:38). This is Mary’s “Fiat”, her “Yes” to the Lord. FIAT reminds us to follow Mary’s model to say “Yes” to the Lord, surrendering our will to His Holy Will. Same as what happened to Mary during her FIAT, we desire to allow the Spirit to enter, take control to steer the future direction of our lay apostolate.

COMMUNITY — Our new evangelization model

The Holy Spirit has also guided us to focus on building lay people. We are to build a strong evangelistic community of lay missionary disciples. And God has promised us that with this community approach, we can do greater things for His Kingdom and to bring Him glory.

I must confess that even after acknowledging that the FLL missions belong to Christ alone, the heavyweight of the role of leading such a blessed and powerful apostolate is still insurmountable!

Would we be able to cover all the big and small expenses? Would we be able to satisfy the expectations and needs of our donors? Do we have resources to split our resources to train evangelists, including our staff and volunteers while we continue to produce more innovative and high quality evangelistic productions? The questions go on and on. While the Holy Spirit has confirmed for us that the answer starts with building such an evangelistic community, we still need to figure out what that means in practical terms and there is no clear and straightforward solutions in sight…

We need real COMPANIONS

The Lord has inspired me to reveal such fears to you all. He says fears being exposed can be conquered. And He assures me that He will gather His angels to help resolve these concerns.

That is why I am not shy to turn to you, my friend, our angel. I am not ashamed to ask, and to ask again, for I am only a messenger. Your contribution is to bring glory to God, through the humble labours of FLL. Please reach deeply into your pocket to send FLL a Confirmation gift, as a sign of your solidarity and a pledge of your companionship as we march forward, with confidence, to fight a good fight for Christ’s sake, and to bring more lost sheep back to His fold!

May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly through what He has already given you and will continue to provide for you!

United in the love of Christ,
