Who are these vibrant, cheerful people wearing green T-shirts with biblical verses on the back?

Ninety-two FLL volunteers and supporters “Walked with God” in the 22nd Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Walkathon/Marathon on October 16, 2011.

The man walking with God exercises a living faith.
The sheer joy and enthusiasm displayed by the FLL family is a living witness to evangelization in the community as God is made more visible and accessible among ordinary people.
“Salt and Light spreads God’s message to believers and non-believers,” said one of the supporters.

By walking with God we engage in a holy intimacy with Him.

The motto of Lay missionaries is: some give by going, some go by giving. Besides the 92 participants in the FLL team, more than 1,500 generous sponsors were also engaged in the evangelization effort. Although some of the sponsors have never heard of FLL or are non-Catholics, they did not hesitate to support the cause.

“When people sponsored me, they were supporting the ministry and the will of the merciful Lord,” said Linda Lui.

While walking with God we shall find support under the inevitable trials of life.

No example is truer than the living witness of Jeffrey Man, who is in Grade 10 and has been suffering from spinal muscular atrophy since he was nine months old. Despite his severe disability, the chilly and windy weather, as well as unforeseen obstacles in transportation, the Man family remained high-spirited and crossed the finishing line with cheers from many.

“It was really eye-opening and inspiring to see this family in action and to witness how they overcome the challenges that they face in their daily lives together,” said Bonny Chan.

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

Thanks to all the support and participation of many, FLL is excited to be the first runner-up among the 157 charities that took part in the STWM Charity Challenge, having raised $121,000. It was a big encouragement to be awarded $3,000!

“This award means a lot more than the $3,000 bonus to FLL. It is such a great testimony that the Catholic faith is very much alive and vibrant, and that the Chinese Catholic community has put in so much effort to raise funds in order to spread the Good News of God,” said Paul Yeung, FLL Director.

Let’s walk with God every day.
